There is a strong need in the community for a PDS4 label builder for CDF files. Requirement mentioned by BepiColombo/Mio, JUICE/RPWI and JUICE/JMAG teams.

We could start from https://gitlab.obspm.fr/cecconi/cassini-rpws-hfr-qtn-archive-pds4, which proposes an application to build a PDS4 bundle from a series of CDF files.

Work has been also done by ESA/PSA, and should be reviewed: https://github.com/msbentley/pds4_utils

The goal of this tools would be to:

• start from a series of CDF files
• create the XML PDS4 labels, extracting relevant information from the CDF attributes and the CDF data structure
• propose guidelines to better prepare this metadata extraction
• create a template system for the XML PDS4 label (inspired from http://release.igpp.ucla.edu/igpp/docgen/), using a python template engine, or building the XML tree from scratch
• optionnel create all the PDS4 bundle files
